Hi, I’m CJ, the voice behind CGM Weight Wise.
If you feel like weight loss became harder after menopause — even though you’re trying to do the right things — you’re definitely not alone.
For years, I felt like I was doing everything “right” when it came to losing weight. I tried eating healthier, experimenting with different diet plans, and staying active. Sometimes I would lose a little weight, but the results never seemed to last. Eventually the weight would creep back, and I’d find myself starting over again.
Then menopause arrived, and things became even more frustrating. What used to work no longer seemed to work the same way.
Eventually I learned something that helped explain a lot of what I had been experiencing. I discovered that I was dealing with insulin resistance and had entered the pre-diabetic range. That realization was a wake-up call. It helped me understand that my body wasn’t just struggling with calories or willpower — it was struggling with how it processed blood sugar.
That discovery led me to start learning more about blood sugar, insulin, and metabolic health.
My First Experience with a CGM
My first experience with a Continuous Glucose Monitor happened before I really understood how to use the information.
I wore a CGM for about four weeks. It was interesting to see the numbers, but at the time I didn’t really know what to do with the data. I didn’t have a clear strategy for using that information to guide my food choices or habits, so eventually I stopped wearing it.
Looking back, the tool itself wasn’t the problem — I just didn’t yet understand how to use the data in a meaningful way.
The Turning Point
About six months later, I started hearing more about people using Continuous Glucose Monitors specifically for weight loss and metabolic health.
That caught my attention.
I decided to try wearing a CGM again — but this time I did something different. Instead of trying to figure everything out on my own, I joined a structured program that teaches people how to use CGM data to guide their eating and lifestyle habits.
Having that guidance has made a huge difference.
The first time I wore a CGM, I could see the numbers but didn’t really understand what they meant or how to respond to them. This time I have support and a framework that helps me understand the patterns and what small changes may help.
Things are starting to click.
I’m beginning to see how different foods, protein balance, fiber, sleep, stress, and exercise affect my glucose patterns. Some meals that seemed healthy are causing bigger glucose spikes than I expected, while other foods keep my numbers steadier and help me feel satisfied longer.
Instead of guessing what might work, I’m now able to see patterns and make small adjustments.
I’m still in the program and still learning, but I’m seeing slow, steady progress that feels sustainable. For the first time in a long time, it feels like I’m moving in the right direction.
Why I Created CGM Weight Wise
I created CGM Weight Wise because I know how discouraging weight struggles can be — especially in midlife.
Many of us have tried diet after diet, only to feel like nothing works anymore. Our bodies change, hormones shift, and sometimes the strategies that once worked simply stop working.
This site is where I document and share what I’m learning along the way as I work to better understand my own glucose patterns and metabolic health.
How I‘m Approaching This Journey
Everything on this site comes from what I’m currently learning and experiencing in my own life. I’m actively working to understand my glucose patterns, improve insulin resistance, and make small lifestyle changes that support steady, sustainable weight loss.
As I continue this journey, I’ll share insights, strategies, and tools that help me better understand how my body responds so others facing similar challenges can explore what might work for them too.
Transparency
Some of the tools, programs, or resources mentioned on this site may eventually include affiliate links. If that happens, it simply means I may earn a small commission if you choose to purchase through those links, at no additional cost to you.
My goal is always to share resources that genuinely align with what I’m learning and using in my own journey.
You’re Not Alone
If you’ve struggled with weight loss — especially during midlife — you’re definitely not alone. Many women discover that insulin resistance and blood sugar changes can make weight management much more challenging than it used to be.
